Wirer/Control Panel Builder

Position Overview:

  • Utilize bill of materials to identify and locate project components;
  • Read and understand electrical schematics (ladder diagrams) and mechanical layouts. Possess a good understanding of electrical components;
  • Affix terminals and wiring to panel as directed by project drawing, schematic and customer specific practices. Select appropriate wire gauges based on drawings, customer specific practices, Simplex standards, and component manufacturer and circuit requirements;
  • Utilize hand tools, wire cutters, strippers and other equipment as needed;
  • Utilize computer to make wire, terminal and component tags and affix as directed by project drawing;
  • Identify defective components and/or inconsistencies in drawings;
  • Utilize Job Traveler throughout production cycle.

Skills Required:

  • Self-starter, positive, professional;
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Detail oriented, strong analytical, technical and organizational skills;
  • Possess problem-solving skills;
  • Focus with a sense of urgency when required;
  • Keep up with production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualifications/Education:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) required;
  • 3-5 years in industrial, electrical control panel building preferred – training available;
  • Demonstrated ability to read electrical schematics (ladder diagrams) and mechanical layouts;
  • Understand, remember, apply, and communicate oral and/or written instructions or information.

Control Panel Technician

Position Overview:

Location: Elmhurst, IL

Salary Range: $21 – $31 per hour – Full Time

Simplex System Controls Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our team! If you have a keen eye for detail, experience with electrical panel assembly, and a passion for maintaining high-quality standards, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect panel assembly, wiring, and tubing for accuracy and adherence to company and customer specifications.
  • Use a multi-meter, high voltage cart, and testing computer to verify panel functionality.
  • Identify and document necessary corrections, completing minor adjustments and coordinating with shop personnel for larger fixes.
  • Escalate quality concerns to the Quality Control Manager as needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, using protective equipment and proper safety procedures when handling high voltage.
  • Maintain and deliver red-lined project drawings to customers.
  • Photograph finished panels and coordinate archiving with office administration.
  • Ensure completed panels are properly prepared for shipping, including documentation and spare components.

General Expectations:

  • Accurately track time worked per project.
  • Communicate any concerns that could impact project completion.
  • Adapt to changing production schedules to meet customer deadlines.
  • Follow all safety procedures when using tools and handling materials.  Maintain an organized workspace and uphold company policies.

  • Experience in electrical panel building or a related field. (2 years required)
  • Knowledge of electrical components and testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow checklists and procedures.

Electrical Inside Sales Manager

Position Overview:

Salary Range: $57,000 – $80,000 – Full-time

Are you a relationship builder who thrives on driving revenue growth and ensuring constant customer satisfaction always? Simplex is seeking an Inside Sales Manager to nurture and grow our existing customer base while uncovering new opportunities for expansion.

This is a critical role where you’ll serve as the face of Simplex for our valued clients—building long-term partnerships, managing renewals, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver seamless project execution.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing accounts, ensuring consistent communication and top-tier service
  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve 15%+ year-over-year revenue growth within current accounts
  • Drive upselling and cross-selling opportunities including new projects, upgrades, and services
  • Build account plans and track customer satisfaction to ensure long-term retention
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Estimating, Engineering, and Operations teams for seamless execution
  • Oversee contract renewals, pricing updates, and service agreement modifications
  • Facilitate smooth handoffs of new accounts from Business Development
  • Monitor project/job progress from start to finish, proactively resolving issues and ensuring constant customer satisfaction always

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years B2B sales/account management experience, with proven revenue growth success
  • A genuine curiosity about how electrical systems work and the ability to speak confidently with technical terms
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • CRM and sales pipeline management experience (Salesforce, HubSpot, Constant Contact, etc.)
  • Familiarity with JobBOSS is a plus

Electrical Cost Estimator

Position Overview:

Salary Range: $58,000 – $80,000 – Full Time

Do you excel at turning complex requirements into accurate, actionable cost estimates? Simplex is looking for a Cost Estimator to lead the front end of our job/project lifecycle by analyzing customer requirements and delivering precise, profitable quotes.

This role is critical to ensuring we align our capabilities with customer needs while maintaining speed, accuracy, and competitiveness in the market.

What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze customer RFQs for technical fit, feasibility, and strategic alignment with company capabilities
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Inside Sales, Purchasing, and Operations to define scope, pricing, resources, and delivery timelines
  • Develop and maintain estimating tools and templates for accuracy and consistency
  • Evaluate and document scope changes, supporting smooth change management
  • Provide input on material sourcing, labor hours, and risk assessment to guide pricing strategy
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices to improve competitiveness
  • Partner with vendors and integrators to ensure reliable, cost-effective solutions

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field—or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of estimating or technical sales experience in a manufacturing or engineering services environment
  • Strong understanding of electrical and pneumatic systems used in custom-built panels or similar industrial solutions
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with ERP, CRM, and estimating software tools
  • JobBOSS familiarity preferred
  • UL MTR Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of NFPA 79, NEC, EN Standards
  • Familiarity with UL NMTR requirements
