Electrical Estimator

Position Overview:

Salary Range: $58,000 – $72,000

Do you have experience reading electrical drawings and putting together project costs? Simplex System Controls is looking for a Electrical Estimator to help prepare quotes for custom industrial control panel projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Review customer drawings and specifications
  • Build project estimates for materials and labor
  • Create bills of material (BOMs)
  • Work with vendors to get pricing and lead times
  • Help identify technical or design concerns before production begins
  • Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, and Production teams
  • Support project planning and scheduling
  • CAD layouts of cabinets and nameplates for quotation and ordering

Qualifications:

  • Experience estimating electrical or industrial projects
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and control panel schematics
  • Knowledge of industrial control panels
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and organization skills
  • Experience with UL 508A is a plus
  • CAD experience required
  • AutoCAD LT preferred

Education:

  • Associate (Preferred)

Panel Builder II

Position Overview:

Salary Range: $22 – $27/hour

The Panel Builder II works more independently to complete wiring tasks, troubleshoot minor issues, and ensure quality control. This position bridges the gap between entry-level and senior Panel Builders by supporting production efficiency and guiding less experienced team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Wire electrical panels and components with limited supervision, following schematics and diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor wiring or assembly issues.
  • Conduct basic quality checks to ensure wiring meets standards and specifications.
  • Provide informal guidance and support to Panel Builder I employees.
  • Identify and suggest small process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Assist in maintaining tools, equipment, and workstations in proper working order.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in wiring or panel assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and technical documents.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to handle minor issues independently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Panel Builder I

Position Overview:

Salary Range: $18 – $22/hour

The Panel Builder I is an entry-level role responsible for performing basic wiring tasks under close supervision. This position follows schematics and instructions to complete assignments and escalates issues rather than resolving them independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and wire electrical panels, control boxes, and components using schematics, diagrams, and written instructions.
  • Perform routine tasks such as cutting, stripping, crimping, and routing wires.
  • Verify wire labels, connections, and placements for accuracy.
  • Report discrepancies, missing parts, or wiring issues to a supervisor or senior Panel Builder.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist team members as directed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of wiring tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow simple schematics and diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Panel Builder III (Senior Panel Builder)

Position Overview:

Salary Range: $27 – $35/hour

The Senior Panel Builder leads wiring projects, mentors junior team members, and ensures work meets both internal and customer standards. This position identifies potential errors, drives process improvements, and may interface with customers to support technical needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead wiring activities for electrical panels, assemblies, and custom projects.
  • Identify, prevent, and resolve complex wiring and assembly issues.
  • Mentor and train Panel Builder I and II employees, providing technical guidance.
  • Conduct detailed quality inspections and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve processes and prevent rework.
  • Engage with customers or external partners as needed to resolve issues or clarify requirements.
  • Proactively recommend and implement efficiency and process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of wiring or electrical assembly experience.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Leadership skills with experience mentoring or training others.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
