Companies add value for their customers in many ways – for instance, by offering faster service, quick turnaround, expert advice, or simplified processes.

At Simplex, we take pride in building control panels of exceptional quality. In addition, we seek to add value for our customers every step of the way.

For example, Urschel Laboratories and dozens of other companies rely on Simplex to meet customer demand for Underwriter Laboratories (UL) marked panels.

Under their panel shop program, UL enables manufacturers, such as Simplex, to offer the UL Listing Mark. The program covers certification for U.S. and Canadian markets.

Of course, a company could take on the responsibility of certifying any or all of the control panels that they source for their customers. To do so, however, would require a significant investment of both time and money. In most cases, it is more cost-effective to work with a UL listed panel shop such as Simplex.

Adding Value

Providing UL certification is just one of the ways that Simplex adds value for our customers. Kitting is another.

Kitting is a process in which individually separate but related items (often referred to as support equipment) are grouped, packaged, and supplied together as one unit.

Several companies, including global design and engineering firm Grantek Systems Integration, Inc., rely on Simplex for kitting service. Simplex supplies control panels as well as installation kits for one of Grantek’s large beverage clients. The kits contain dozens of individual components and provide everything that Grantek engineers need for on-site panel installation.

For Grantek, there are numerous advantages to using the kitting service offered by Simplex.

  • Eliminates the need to invest time and internal resources procuring individual parts from multiple suppliers.
  • As a result of Simplex’s purchasing power, Grantek is able to realize cost-savings for their client
  • Helps to keep the installation window for their client as short as possible. Downtime is kept to a minimum.

Ian Wilson, a Toronto based project manager for Grantek, related that contracting with Simplex to provide installation kits provides “a last line of quality assurance. Simplex is able to ensure that everything is as it should be – that all the parts are present and accounted for.”

Ian indicated that not only has Simplex proven to be price competitive, but flexible and responsive as well. “Simplex has been able to meet quick turnarounds for kits. And if any issues do arise, they handle it in a timely manner.”

“Poor quality and inconsistency have sometimes been an issue with other vendors, but not with Simplex,” Ian indicated. “Simplex is detailed oriented and having one central point of contact (a dedicated project manager) through the entire design, build, kitting, and delivery process is a huge advantage.”
